Uma desaceleração global do setor de pesca comercial e artesanal acontece devido ao novo Coronavírus. Com demanda de compra quase zerada e a impossibilidade de realizar atividades pesqueiras para cumprir o isolamento social, pescadores potiguares estão pedindo ajuda na arrecadação de mantimentos para suas famílias.

Aproximadamente três mil beneficiários ainda não receberam do Governo Federal o seguro defesa, pois o INSS não avaliou as solicitações em tempo hábil. A maior parte das colônias e federação da pesca do RN estão fechadas para a preservação da saúde das diretorias e associados. Até então, as colônias não receberam qualquer orientação de como suprir as necessidades básicas das famílias da pesca artesanal.
